Something is off.
I had a stock 1275 Sprite up to what I believe is 115 mph.
The speedo goes to 100, the needle was on the "E" on the word high bEam.
At that speed the front end tends to come off the ground. Aerodynamics I 
guess but I also was too busy watching the speedo and not the tach. ;)
3000 rpms is about 50 mph. + or - depending on which diff you have.
