When I removed the rack from my Bugeye (LHD) there was a packing piece
(spacer) behind the right side rack mount. When I look in the manuals I is
hard to tell which side it should be on. The manual for the later cars shows
it on the end with the pinion. I have a feeling that the PO installed it
according to the service manual which shows it on the right side of the car
but it also show the steering on the right side. Am I correct in the
assumption that it is installed behind the pinion end of the rack which would
place it on the left side on a LHD car?
I am still having a problem with a bind in the steering to such an extent that
I have to drive around a corner, the steering doesn't return to neutral as it
should. The car had excessive toe out when I got it to compensate but it was
causing the tires to wear on the inside.
