I am trying to get the 1098 in the BBQ baby into a decent state of tune,
before I put it into the keeper car. It is firing well, and initially it
idles smoothly, BUT. After a minute or so, it starts to miss, and when I
push the lifting pin on the front carb, the car trys to die. I am trying to
balance the carbs, but because the fire melted much of the wiring at the
rear of the car, I am not using the fuel pump. Instead, I have a bottle of
fuel propped above the level of the engine, bleeding fuel into the system.
Will the back carb run lean, due to it not being fed first? Is carb tuning
possible without the fuel system under pressure? If so, what am I doing
wrong?
