It's LBC-but not Spridget

Bleeding the brakes on my '72 Innocenti Mini is driving me nuts.  There is air
in the system.  A LOT of air.   I've bled and bled and bled, and then it's ok
for about 5 miles....more air.  This car has a vacuum assist that is remotely
mounted from the master cylinder.   Is there any way that air could be
entering the assist unit and NOT leaking any fluid.  I've got no leaks.  None.
And going out of my mind.  Well ok it wasn't that far a drive....
