If you can, look around for an industrial tool salvage joint, they have good
used stuff and you can usually negotiate the price.
I picked up a Baldor bench grinder at a place nearby for $35.00. Runs smooth as
a smelt.
If you have a hack saw and a welder you can make your own brake out of angle
iron and black iron pipe for almost free. There are lots of plans and pics on
the web for ideas.
