and I'm betting the bill after adjustments is just about $7000.  Every 
medical bill I've received a copy of that is paid by insurance gets whittled 
down to about half by the insurance company.  So if you are un or under 
insured, you must negotiate with the hospital providing the service.  The 
insurance company, and the US government both do.

My wifes bill for having our daughter started out at about $10,000.  The 
insurance company actually paid $3800.  There was no deductable, and the 
bill is paid in full.
