About 24 years ago, my newly pregnant wife and I took our '72 Midget on
a 10 day, 1700 mile camping trip, with the following accoutrements:
Four person pop-up tent
Coleman stove (lantern, too)
Canned food & cooking utensils
A "business suit" for me, and appropriate dress for wife (starting new
business and making sales calls along the way)
A small cooler
Tools and spares (including water pump, fuel pump, new alternator,
various ignition and carburetor spares).......as expected, the car ran
flawlessly, and none of that stuff was needed.
Various thermos bottles and thermal mugs
A case of 16 oz Old German beer, for my former racing partner, in St.
Louis
A bunch of other stuff that my now feeble memory can no longer recall

We had a blast! No, the car didn't handle very crisply (a bit
tail-happy, with all of the extra weight), but we kept the top down the
entire time, even when we got caught by a sudden thunderstorm, north of
Jeffersonville, IN. The Midget still got way over 30 mpg, and was still
fun to drive, even with the extra weight.

One of those "epic journeys" that builds/strengthens bonds between man &
wife & Spridget. So, to anyone thinking of flying/trailering/wimping
out: I say GO FOR IT! DRIVE THAT SPRIDGET! Odds are overwhelmingly in
favor of your having a great time, and memories lasting a lifetime.

Me too, 25th through 30th. Probably drag the Bugeye, no way can we get
a
weeks worth of stuff for my wife in the car. For me two pair of shorts,
a
few "T's" and a case or two of Mich. Are we going to need to bring
helmet's?
