I think it is all in the usage.  For the kind of occassional evening and 
weekend puttering most people do, HF is probably just fine.  Oh, some of 
it has been just crap that breaks the first time, if it works at all.  
But, if like Frank, you depend on them for your livlihood, they can't 
take the heavy usage.  I don't mean abuse, but just the sustained daily 
grind.  The problem, as Frank pointed out, is that dependable old line 
American companies are getting their products made in the Asian gulags 
where, despite the buyers specifications, there is no way to translate 
"quality".
