The Hudson engine would raise about two inches, and then pull the Hydromatic
linkage into neutral leaving the engine to rev free. There was a guy in the
club who would periodically have motor mounts re-rubbered, but I had to give
him my mounts and wait until he'd collected enough to do a run. I had to run
for about three months with rear mounts made from layers of tire sidewall
held together by bent nails. It worked, but needless to say I had to refrain
from embarrassing Mustangs and Camaros at stoplights....which was probably
the most enjoyable thing about owning a Hornet.
