The biggest blow to the Carlisle Sports and Import show was Carlisle
Productions themselves. A few years back they said they were going to move
the date of the show and give the weekend in May to the boom box crowd. A
petition was taken of/by the vendors to keep it as it was and give the boom
box people another date. Carlisle Productions waited until late Sunday
afternoon to "announce" that the Sports and Import/kitcar schedule would not
be changed. By the time they made their announcement most of the vendors had
left! The next year fewer vendors were there and this trend has continued.
Now the state of Pa. has stepped in and decreed that the hobby vendors at
Carlisle have to have a Pa. sales tax permit in order to sell any goods.
This will probably kill the hobby vendor
attendance....................................
