It took me several years to notice this on my car. After a little
kissing with a Mini Cooper through the hairpin at Grattan, I had to
replace my left front fender. Several years later, I was looking at one
of those "on-track" action photos the guys peddle in the paddock and I
noticed the different parking light heights on my racer. Rick Fisk
explained the year-change thing to me. I never saw it before. Now, I
can't keep from hating it!

On the 68-69, the front marker lamp sits closer to the headlamp bucket,
due
to the thickness of the chrome bumper. On the cars with the skinny
chrome
bumper, the lamps are moved lower, to balance out the space between the
headlamp and bumper.
If you look in the OS&M, you will see the lovely blue Sprite, with
mismatched front wings, at the beginning of the MKIV Sprite section. I
forget the page #, and my copy is at home, not work. It isn't
*real*obvious, but once you see it, your eyes are drawn to it, every
time you see
it afterwards.
