With my back, removing the bonnet before removing the battery would be the 
proper order.  Thankfully, you're not using my back. :)

I once forgot to remove the engine to chassis ground strap.  I have 
remembered to reattach it though.

I followed the Haynes manual the first time, and it went flawlessly.  Well 
... I sprained an ankle in an unrelated event which slowed the process down 
by a week.  :)
