I found a modern "strap adjuster" that is pretty close to the original ones 
used on 
the two straps that hold the top to the bows in the stowed position on a Bugeye.

What is nice is the outfit will powder coat them black for a minor fee.

They also carry sheet metal webbing tips (which the original Bugeye straps had)

I choose instead to go with regular poly, as I had some on hand already.

Others on the list indicated the center strap for the bows was leather. I ended 
up using a buckle 
from a dog collar and a strip of light color leather.

I sure would like to know what the original buckle looked liked on the leather 
strap.  
I have no good photos of this.
