Trish's PT Cruiser has no go. Relatively new clutch. Hydraulics look fine.
Pushing the pedal down feels normal and moves the fork as expected. The shifter
moves the selectors and feels normal as if it is going into each gear. Even
with the engine running, you can put it into each gear without bothering to
push down the clutch pedal. No noises, no movement. With it in gear, I can
rotate one of the wheels and the other one does not move at all. It is as if
the center was ripped out of the clutch disk (if any of you are familiar with
the vast amount of torque on tap with the NA 2.4 engine, you will know that my
tongue is firmly wedged in cheek as I offer that potential explanation). Maybe
all of the bolts that hold the clutch pack to the flexplate might have sheered
or fallen out, but I would expect at least a little noise. Maybe the diff is no
longer talking to the transmission? Any ideas?
