My first Midget, a 74, came with one from the PO. I found out when I
pulled the engine and trans in order to install a trans that had a
funtional 3rd gear. I replaced the rest of the clutch as long as I was
in there, but left the roller TO. Never a lick of trouble. Never have
put in a carbon one, so my opinion may not be particularly valid,
especially since I vividly recal pulling the lump on my 72 JUST to
change a broken carbon TO!

IMHO, like so many other Spridget parts, the OEM carbon units were ok,
but the ones you buy now are not up to the OEM standard and I would
not fit one.

The rollers are out of production to the best of my knowledge, but you
can still find them occasionally. Cheap at twice the price.
