get an ABC rated marine type extinguisher with a metal mounting bracket.
first off most inexpensive extinguishers have a plastic top. if you have an
accident and it breaks loose from the mounting the top breaks off and the
extinguisher's bottle becomes a jet powered projectile in your car! hence a
metal top type of extinguisher. second a metal mounting bracket (comes with a
marine type certified by U.S. coast guard) is included in the purchase and will
not let thee xtinguisher "loose" like the cheapo plastic mounts.
mounting? well i like mine just behind the passenger seat where i can reach it
with my seat belt on. also that location allows complete seating room for both
driver and passenger. some like it on a rollbar , some prefer it on the floor
on top of the jack box(between the inner rocker and trans. tunnel). i'm too
tall for the floor mount and do not prefer a rollbar mount as that would either
put it right behind you (very hard to get to in an emergency) or too far away
on the opposite side of the rollbar. of course there are onboard fire systems
with a remote bottle and plumbed nozzles thatyou can direct to specific areas
for an instant onboard fire "pull the red handle" for the serious race car
types or the extreme paranoid street car drivers. but i find a good 2lb. to
2.5lb. ABC marine extinguisher just fine.

chuck
same bugeye for a very long time.
