They charge you 2% of the gross sale if you do not stay (or purchase, I
can't remember) in NJ. I was glad that it was covered by my reloc package
but I was a bit ticked about the fee.

If you can't stand the high taxes in New Jersey you are free to move BUT you
have to pay an EXIT tax, this is over and above any toll bridge just to get
out.
Something like 2% of what you sold your property for.
