I worked on dairy farms in the Tillamook County Creamery Association from
the time I was 11 through about age 19.
If and when something bad like this were to happen to a member of that
association other members would come to their aid.
Dairy farmers on small family farms (140 cows is on the upper end of small)
are a tough breed, and they generally will stick together in bad times.
I hope this guy is part of such a community, otherwise hopefully he has a
large family that will pull together.
Even if the milk is a total loss (literally flushed down the drain) those
cows have to be milked twice a day or it's off to the butcher or auction.
The first priority is to get the cows milked, almost as important (working
on it between milkings) is to get the automation back to working,
I hope insurance pays for everything and doesn't make him go through lawyers
and court time.
