Are the points clean? Do they have the proper gap? Are they grounded
properly?
Are you getting the proper voltage to the coil? You can pull the coil
wire out of the distributor and hold it near the engine block- you
should see a spark there.
The ignition system is relatively simple but does have a lot of
components that must work. Current must flow from the ignition switch
to the coil to the points to the ground. The points must open and close
properly. The coil must produce a spark, which must go through a wire
to the distributor, which must "distribute" the spark via the rotor and
distributor cap, then the spark travels down the spark plug wire to the
spark plugs to the ground.
Not counting the resistor, if LBC's have them, that is a total of 8 or
more parts that must work properly. The good thing is that you can
usually troubleshoot each individual part fairly easily without a lot of
special tools.
