Two points to ponder... The first is ether in a diesel. Back in the day I
worked for Avis Truck Division and we leased/rented trucks. We used to get
semis back with blown engines. The drivers would use the onboard cold
weather starting system (ether injection) to boost power when going up
long, steep hills. It is kind of like using NOX for a second too long!
Bang, you broke it...

The second is using ether to start a 2 stroke motor. Bad choice because it
washes the oil off the cylinders and can make it possible for scoring to
occur. The rings dig into the cylinder wall and leave a groove (scored)
whereby the compression leaks out into the crankcase.

Today's pump gas degrades much faster than ever before. If you can find gas
with no ethanol, use that in your small engines and you will not experience
so many starting/running issues.

Kent
