As a retired meteorologist I can assure that we have been warning the
public about driving through water covered road conditions for many years.
Sadly, sometimes the vehicle gets swept away by the running water, drivers
are trapped inside or stupidly open the doors to escape.  Statistically,
there are more people drown by driving into flowing water every year than
are killed by tornadoes!  Happy New Year Spridgeteers!!
