Its oval, about 16 inches by 8 inches, stamped steel. Top and bottom
sections are held apart by the paper filter element thats about 1.5 inches
tall. Originally they were painted hammertone silver. The top section
has stamped writing, a promenent "AC" along with patent information. The bottom
section has a hole that just fits Holley and most carbs (2bbl or 4bbl) that
is recessed up so the air cleaner sits low, right down on the top of the
carb (and nicely clears the hood). The bottom has a fitting for the hose
that goes to the oil filler cap (drivers side) and a fitting (maybe 1/4 inch)
that goes to the choke tube that goes down to the exhaust manifold on the
passenger side. The top has one reinforced hole in the center for the mounting
stud on the carb. The filter sides transversly across the carb so it just
clears the firewall but allows a greater filter area than a small round
filter would.
