  I don't know if this is help, but with my Alpine in 90+ heat, opening 
the hood definitely helped with the temp when in motion.  I could see a 
noticable change in where the needle was pointing.  But, with stop and go 
traffic, it didn't make any difference - obviously because there was to 
air flowing to care.  The flex fan made all the difference in the world 
for the stop and go times.
