Well, you've forced me to tell a true one about something extra being
installed at the factory. It's not Tiger so delete if you're not interested.

A friend and another fireman were sent by their fire dept. to pick-up a new
fire engine from the factory. It was to be a three day trip. Fly down and
drive the pumper back at 40 mph in two days.

First day on the road and the truck ran fine except when it was going uphill.
It would then die down to 10 mph. Stop and call the factory. They recommend
a Mack dealer nearby. Four hours in the shop, change the fuel pump, test
drive and all is fine.

Stay over nite and start next morning. Fist 2 hous all is going well. Third
hour and same problem starts to develop. Try to keep going, but finally gets
so bad have to stop and call factory again. One more time into a Mack shop
for a new fuel pump again and blow out the fuel line and change the filter and
test drive. Perfect!!

Fill the 100 gallon tank and get on the road again. First 2 hours all is fine
and then problem comes back. Call chief, he calls factory and really gives
it to them. Sent to nearby dealer and dealer instructed to give it top
priority. Put 4 best mechanics on and change and tear everything related to
it. Drain the fuel tank just to be sure. Test drive and leave. This time go
2 miles and quit entirely. Call shop just left. Tow the beast in.

After complete tear down a plastic lunch bag is found in the fuel tank. When
tank was full it wasn't bad, but when level got low the bag would get sucked
up against the line.

With mechanics time and and extra day for the 2 delivery boys I bet that joke
cost $4,000-5,000. They didn't know wether the bag was stuck in at the tank
manufacturing facility or at the truck assembly factory. They suspected the
truck factory because there had been some union problems and a resulting work
"slowdown".

I bet there are hundreds and hundreds of these weird ones out there. Mark L.
