Greetings Fellow Tiger List Subscribers,
There seems to be a lot of chatter on the mailing list about a variety
of subjects: real Tigers, fake Tigers, and (maybe) how to tell the
difference; use of the delete key (shouldn't equal time be given the
ctrl & alt keys?); worthy discussion vs. "deletable" discussion; and on
and on . . .
I'm here to tell you that I enjoy it all (for those of you that consider
this idle banter please feel free to exercise your delete keys now!).
One subject that I've yet seen covered here is El Nino. Aren't Tiger
folks concerned? Isn't this phenomenon keeping some of your cars snowed
in their garages (and what size garage is it?) while others are out
driving their's, when during normal weather conditions, this would not
be possible.
The thermometer hit the 50 degree mark in suburban Philadelphia today:
sun shining, no snow, not a speck of salt yet spread, perfect conditions
to fire up the 260 and charge up the Diehard that has sat idle for the
last two months. The last time it left the garage (very small: no room
to work on the car or store two sets of extra tires/wheels, 3 bicycles,
lawnmower, garden tools) was in October for a Tigers East/Alpines East
Club get together (a cold/sloppy rainy day). There were others out today
too: Austin Healy 3000, MGB, even saw an Alpine (top down).
With the hardtop secure and heater functioning, the Tiger is a very
comfortable car in the cooler weather. Temperature gauge lingered in the
170 degree position throughout the afternoon (no need to worry about how
many blades on the fan or angle of same).
It never occurred to me to lift up the carpeting over the rear seat to
if there was a Pressed Steel tag there (but someday I might). It felt
like a Tiger and it sounded like a Tiger too (it didn't bite me though,
nor did I bite it). It even drank like a Tiger, when I topped it up,
before putting it back under cover in the garage.
So, in summary, thanks to all who provide the diversity that makes this
list so interesting day after day. Please keep it coming . . . now how
about that El Nino thread?
