Thanks to all who helped me find a home for all the grommets including the
"Duckbill Drain.  There is no longer any light visible when I look under
the dash.  Hopefully that will reduce the heat flow into the cockpit
considerably.  A little insulation under the carpet is the next step. 
Thanks again.  I couldn't keep this baby on the road without all your help.
