I'm planning to replace the side panels in the trunk. My originals
are falling to bits, and have never been on the car in the 20+ years
I've owned it. They're mostly good enough for tracing onto the new
material, but I'll have to reinvent the rear ends of both. That's no
big deal.
I know someone makes replacement panels out of plastic, but I want to
make something up myself, redesigned a bit. I don't want to use the
same cardboard as the originals. I'm not planning anything radical. I
just have some different ideas about how to mount them, and how to get
at the tail lights. I want to end up with something like the original
black look.
What materials have some of you used for the side panels? Any other
redesign ideas out there?
