Speaking of speedo cables and plastic.  The original Tiger cable had a plastic
inner sheath.  This did not make for long life.  Make sure your
replacement has a metal core.  It will outlast many inner cables, providing they
are properly lubricated.  The correct length cable, and
replacement cores, also significantly affect the life of your speedometer.  One
bad design can cause a lot of grief.
