Bill Carroll states that the #45 car was in fact an Alpine in his book. Now I
know you can't believe everything you read about Tigers, but Carroll Shelby
himself stated in LA last year at the Grand Prix he started with an Alpine
shell instead of a Tiger. Either your number reference is wrong or Shelby is a
liar. 

Le Mans cars
A rebody is a rebody is a rebody, I don't care if it is aluminum or carbon
fiber or Alpine steel-

And if there is a "Tiger King" in No Cal that is faster than the Tigers down
here it is probably an aluminum rebody-

By the way Dale's Akuszewski's racing Tiger is also a "factory authorized
prototype"
says so right on the side of the car: "Alpine 260"
