I understand, What I was trying to get across is that there are a lot of
thing that
determined oil "life". If you are running a high volume air filter that lets
a lot of AIR and Dirt enter the engine I would not extend changes. The same
this is true if the oil temp never reaches 210f or gets over 260f. A
miltigrade oil will break down long before 7,000 miles to a straight weight.
Pull an oil sample next time you go 7,000 miles most places can run the
sample under $10. It will tell you a lot about your engine and oil.
Bearing wear , ring wear, cylinder wear, what type of antifreeze you use,
how good your air filter is, how hot your oil is getting, how much money you
have wasted on snake oil, what SSU (oil weight) is of the oil after removing
the dirt, etc.
