Remember that if those frame extensions are in reasonably good shape,
they are the proper points from which to jack up the car.

I towed a Tiger on its own wheels from Victoria, BC to Halifax, NS,
(pushing 4000 miles) using a rig which bolted into the bumper mounts,
but which also had, on each side, a rear extension to the bracket which
permitted a large bolt to be passed through the bracket extension and
through the frame extension about six inches behind the bumper mount.
There were no obvious signs of deformation in this area after the tow,
and the car behaved well during the tow. Don't know that I would do it
again since my tow vehicle wasn't that much heavier than the Tiger, and
I had no towing brakes on the Tiger.
