Hi,
I know this is a little late but I own a '97 Crown Vic LX. I have the
"sport/touring" package which stiffens the suspension a bit and reduces the
body roll. This also includes 3.31 rear end gearing and dual exhausts.
The engine output is increased to 210HP (I think).
I love big Fords. I've owned them all my life. This '97 Vic is by far the
best I've ever owned or been in. It can do 0 to 60 in under 9 seconds (I
think about 8.8), handles fairly well for a land yacht and still gets 23-25
MPG on the highway. Huge trunk, lots of room for passengers. The brakes a
pretty impressive (4 wheel disk with ABS) and I've made some panic stops in
it that I'm not sure I would have been able to make in other (albeit older)
big Fords. The Crown Vic is noted for good reliability and excellent
safety.
I really like this car.
My biggest complaint is the drivers seat. If I don't keep my posture
correct I get back pains after a few hours. Also with the wide performance
tires, slick or icy road traction is marginal. I also wish it had a CD
player.
My main reason for buying this car was that we had to have a family mover
and I was not going to buy a mini van or a SUV. I have not regretted the
purchase.
In my opinion the Vic is a nice looking car. I can't really understand
Robs "UGH" comment but I guess if you don't like big cars then a Crown Vic
won't appeal to you.

years purchased a Ford Crown Victoria or Mercury Grand Marque? I'm
considering one and would like to hear of someone's experience.
Just think, along with the Lincoln the last big car built on a frame! 3900
lbs. of good old American steel and still 25-26 mpg on the highway.
