John,
They didn't have a quality control problem. Each and every part met the
manufacturing and engineering specifications. What they had was a poor design
and to broad an acceptable manufacturing tolerance.
"We builds-em like they designs-em"
Two fuses for the entire car, pot metal components, poor materials, and
unsealed components didn't help with use and age and the inevitable dirt.
