To assist in clarifying this issue,
1) Do not trust the market to know the difference as they will always point you
to
the wrong row.
2) De-mineralized, De-Ionized, and "Mouton Spring" are NOT equivalent.
3) Ionization is the disassociated form of soluble materials. Water can be
"de-ionized" without being distilled, but any REAL distillation removes
dissolved
(ionized) materials as well as non-soluble particles of silt, and any lower
boiling point liquids mixed in.
4) Most car manufacturers with alloy motor parts require DISTILLED water and
antifreeze with lubrication and anti-corrosion additives, with flushing and
changing annually.
5) There are many kinds of back flushes, ranging from the simple water flow,
to a
more professional job with very high pressures and injected air, to one that
pulses a liquid with a scouring particle mixture to 'de-scale' the walls. There
are also chemical flushes, but these use dangerous, and most often
environmentally
prohibited materials.
I am only passing on a lay knowledge of this, and welcome any really technically
knowledgeable additions or corrections. We've had enough "Urban Legends" on
many
subjects already. Any REAL experts out there? Mine only deal in really toxic
rocket fuels.
