Bob,

While I agree that an O.D. of 0.78 to 0.80 is ideal, the 5 speed OD 
transmissions
use 0.63, 0.64 ratios for OD for C.A.F.E. fuel economy reasons, and are a real
large rpm drop.

I found that the Top Loader complete rebuild kit (bearings, seals, etc. was 
about
$135, and a good set on new or used wide-ratio gears are easy to come by, you
could get a really strong wide ratio rebuilt toploader a lot cheaper than a low
torque capability 5 spd.  The one from Ford is a Mazda derivative, and has a 
very
low torque capability, about half the top-loader's.
