Your search for metric nylon machine screws may not be that difficult. Try the
license plate screws on the Japanese or European cars, they are in the size
ball-park, and probably both metric and nylon.
Another source is a good Automotive Paint supplier. They usually have a rack of
automotive body special fasteners for body shops. A number are both metric and
nylon. A smaller supply is in a good, large size Pep Boys, but the Body Shop
suppliers are probably better stocked.
