David,
I now have different wheels on, but the old ones were
stock 13" Tiger wheels that had been sliced and a new band welded
in. Not sure which wheels were on the Tiger when the photo
was taken. Had one set with a 2" band (6 1/2" wide total)
and another set with a 4" band ( 8 1/2" wide total.) Bands
installed by a circle track race car builder. The back spacing
was unchanged from the stock Tiger/Alpine wheels. Changed away from
these wheels because I could no longer get wide 13" Tires. Last set
were TAs at 235-50-13. Cost was not much compared to new aftermarket
wheels, but it was so long ago that the price does not mean
anything now.
If you want new wide steel 13" wheels then check out JEG'S
for Bart Wheels 13" "Mini-stock" or Economy" 4x4.25 with 3"
or 4" backspacing. They come in 7 or 8" wide for around $50 each.
These are normally used for Pinto Mini-stock car racing. Probably
have holes for 1/2" studs instead of 7/16" like the Tiger.
By using very short sections of 1/2" OD, 7/16" ID steel tubing, you could
shim the 7/16" studs to fit the larger holes. I have done this with
Mustang wheels before and it works well. Use new aftermarket
lug nuts, because the taper on the Tiger lug nuts is sharper
than the taper on US made wheels.
