Chris,

I have BOTH the plastic and the brass versions.  The screen system and brass 
rings
are identical.  Only the housing tube is different, with the brass one having 
lips
to hold the hose clamp from slipping off.

If you are discarding the housing, to insert the screen system in the top hose, 
or
braze the mounting ring to the radiator inlet, why spend the extra money for the
part your discarding?
