Tim,

The REAL Ford engine number is stamped on the block, but you have to
remove the starter to see it. When you have it, you will see the year,
etc. it was built.

According to TBON, your car, B9480033, was (as of 4/87) previously owned
by Hilton Payne, of Johannesburg, SOAF, with the Body Number 1 ALP 67.
It was Red, and had the license number FKZ 765T

I don't think Ford EVER painted any car engine the color you describe, however.
