Sorry to bomb the list, but I feel Chrysler is being indifferent to what I
feel is an important concern.
Today my wife (and kids) quickly returned home with her saying that the car
(1994 Dodge intrepid) is "shaking."
Well it sure was and after an inspection I found the rear lateral link (the
one the rear toe is adjusted with) was broken. It broke the tubing end that
the bushing goes into at the crossmember. That part is a rolled tube, but
strangely it did not break where the seam was, and it did not break the
weld, but it broke just after the weld. This then pulled apart and left
about an inch gap around the bushing. Nothing ever hit the link or was
forced upon it (like a curb it) I looked at the tires, it was clean. Man,
they were just about to get on the freeway!!! When I drove the car at 30 mph
it was shook badly, I dread to think what could of happened at 65 mph. Does
anyone know who to contact about this (NTSB?). I just got the "press 1", "
I'm not authorized" routine from Chrysler. Thanks, Tom Witt B9470101
P.S. Years ago I also snapped a rear fulcrim bolt on a 240Z doing of all
things, "backing in the driveway." Do you really think I should drive my
Tiger when I get it done???
