Bruce,

This is my third attempt at answering you. I hope your E-mail provider
is straigtened out,
and you do receive this one.

I wish I knew everything, or that at least Rootes did. Their are all
sorts of torque requirements in the General Specifications section of
the Workshop Manual (on line at htp://www.TigersUnited.com), an even a
section on the clutch where it definitely states that the clutch should
be torqued to the specified requirements. Unfortunately, it does NOT
give them!!!

Not to worry. I just so happen to have the FORD Workshop Manual for my
ex '66 GT Mustand Hi Po convertible, and IT DOES.

The Torque Specifications for the clutch pressure plate are 23-28
lb-ft, a good deal higher than Tom Monroe's. The "flywheel housing"
(bell housing) to engine requirements, by the way, are 40-50 lb-ft.!!

I am certain you know you need a clutch plate alignment tool inserted
before attaching and torquing the clutch pressure plate.
