That mostly depends on how thorough any re-painting done previously was. You
should look inside the heater box or up under the dash. Factory paint jobs went
under the VIN plate and not under the JAL plate, but if I had factory rivets
holding that VIN plate in place I'd go to some lengths to not touch them if at
all possible - they're only original once.
