Steve,

Run on is caused by excessive carbon that glows in the combustion chambers 
and ignites the fuel. I recommend the following to correct the problem.

Reduce the idle speed. Also check the choke to make sure it isn't causing 
higher idle speeds in cooler weather. With the carburetor set for lower idle 
speed, there is less air to promote combustion so the engine should stop. 

Lean out the carburetor. The engine is probably running too rich, causing the
