more soft top restoration questions

I have some more questions about restoring the soft top frame (not that I
was overwhelmed with the responses to my last enquiries).  The pivoting
support attached to the main frame member was covered with a piece of gray
vinyl over some thin foam rubber padding.  There was glue everywhere - it
didn't look like standard Jensen quality.  Is this a stock treatment or an
"enhancement by a PO?
