Bill, you have taken care of some of the normal stuff, but read the 
excellent article by Tiger Tom on either the TE/AE or United web site.

No joke intended, the preferred radiator is a clean one, and you did not 
mention what yours is like.  How about the block, is it clean and rust, 
mostly, rust free, and the water pump?

More info is needed.
