10,000 means

Those who saw the article know what the 10,000 refers to.

FOR THE RECORD, when I posted the message last night, I really thought I
 did use the pound sterling sign(option 3 for Mac), as in cars that are
worth 10,000 pounds sterling, and I was as surprised as Mike and Larry
to see it translated this morning into the pound sign, as in " press the
pound key after your touch tone entry".
