Tim, the first place I would look is at the spot welds on the body.  As 
you know, most race cars are seam welded to provide a more rigid base 
frame.  If on inspection, you see stress, popped welds, this is one one 
area you can beef up and correct, or add gussets to the frame.  After 
that it is a cage arrangement.
