carb/firewall clearence

I believe that the Holley 670cfm Avenger carb (sitting on an Edelbrock
Performer RPM) rattles against the ridge on the firewall. I don't want
to "bash" in the ridge on my freshly restored car to increase the gap,
so what are the list thoughts on:
A) switching to an Edelbrock (Carter) carb
B) switch to another Holley carb with shorter fuel bowl
C) other ideas?
