F1 claims to be running the "World Drivers Championship", but are they
really?
The F1 guys practice all weekend to go around a nice smooth loop a
couple miles long, over and over for almost two hours.
The rally guys, however, run on dirt, paved, muddy or snowy roads,
usually several of these in each event. The rallys go on for several
days, and the might see the same road twice, but not likely. They may
have route instructions and a navigator on board, but sliding around a
corner at top speed, a corner they've never seen before and only have a
description of, at night, on loose dirt/mud/snow or who knows what, with
trees or a ditch ready to eat your car if you miss, takes incredible car
control. These guys deserve a piece of any "world drivers championship"
claims.
