Randy,

Although it is known as an "Ackerman Angle" kit, the amount of
correction made is minimal, at best. The steering ratio does change,
giving quicker response at the expense of heavier steering wheel forces.

To "cure" the Ackerman angle issue, which the Alpine does not have, the
rack must be moved rearward a lot more than the approximate 1/4 inch
provided by the kit. The kit does improve quickness of steering
reaction to steering wheel turn for Auto-X and racing, where quick
response is a premium, and strength of driver a given.

It was said that to truly get the Ackerman angle to the correct
alignment, the rack must be moved back about 4 inches, which places it
in the middle of the pan. I think there is other "stuff" there that you
should not remove, like your crankshaft.

Steve (with no experience with this change, but some knowledge of geometry.)
